The 4th Second Board of Directors, Supervisors, and Member Representatives Congress of the Macao and Canada Economic and Trade Association (Macao, China)

Macao and Canada Economic and Trade Association (Macao, China) held its Fourth Second Board of Directors, Supervisors, and Member Representatives Congress at 11:00 AM on October 11, 2025 (Beijing Time) at the Wanzi Hall, Dynasty Hotel. The event also celebrated the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 26th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland. The Congress was attended by Congress Chairman Chen Yingjin, Co-Chairman and Founding President Li Jinlian, Honorary President He Hanpei, Vice Chairmen Honorary President Zhou Yixin, Standing Vice President Chen Jinglian, Vice President Zheng Hanwen, and other member representatives. The meeting was presided over by President of the Board Chen Guowei. Chen Yingjin delivered a speech, while Chen Guowei and Supervisor General Chen Meiling presented the 2024 work report and financial report respectively.

 

Chen Yingjin expressed gratitude for the support from all sectors over the past eleven years, which has enabled the steady growth of the Association's various initiatives .He reported that the Canadian exhibition area at the 30th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) featured over 35 Canadian and local enterprises, with projects spanning technology, energy, health, and finance. Notably, a health product exhibitor from the previous year has established a presence in Macao.

 

In May, Chairman Chen Yingjin traveled to Canada to attend the Economic and Trade Summit Forum co-organized by the Macao and Canada Economic and Trade Association (Canada) and the New Power Entrepreneurs Association in Markham. The event received strong support from the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto and friends from Canadian political and business circles.The Association is actively supporting Macao's "1+4" appropriate diversification strategy, promoting investment opportunities in Macao and Hengqin, and strengthening the ties between Macao, China, and Canada. Chairman Chen also participated in the inauguration of the new council for the Macao and Canada Economic and Trade Association (Canada).

 

Founding President Li Jinlian thanked everyone for their support and emphasized that the Association must adhere to the "patriotic spirit of loving the nation and Macao." She encouraged members to leverage their expertise, ensure the Association's work keeps pace with the times, and enhance its insight and influence. She also proposed collecting opinions from member representatives during the congress, emphasizing the importance of valuing their input. Honorary President He Hanpei shared the journey of introducing pharmaceutical enterprises to Macao and the experience of realizing their establishment, thanking the Association for its assistance and support. Standing Vice President Chen Jinglian proposed: I. Leverage resource strength, strengthen the role as a bridge, integrate member resources, promote cross-sector cooperation (e.g., economy, trade, technology), and regularly organize industry matchmaking and sharing events.

 

Establish a "Canadian Resource Pool" to leverage Macao's platform advantages and achieve precise matching between Macao and Canadian enterprises.

 

Enhance promotion through brochures, forums, and promotion sessions to elevate the Association's profile.II. Seize policy opportunities to expand development space.

 

Align with national policies on "education, technology, and talent" to promote cooperation and exchanges between Macao and Canadian universities and talents.

Utilize Macao's role as a "bridge linking the mainland to the world" to assist Chinese and Canadian companies in exploring each other's markets.

 

Leverage Macao's industrial policies (e.g., modern finance) to foster cooperation in key areas, seek support, and enhance the effectiveness of the Association's work.These proposals aim to combine the Association's strengths, Macao's positioning, and national policies to advance practical cooperation. Vice President of the Board Hu Hong expressed hope to promote student exchanges and school interactions between China and Canada using Macao as a springboard. Supervisor General Chen Meiling suggested introducing new scientific materials from the mainland to enhance Macao's competitiveness. Vice President of the Board Huang Yuhong hoped the Association would strengthen liaison with the government to provide resource integration services for non-local enterprises in Hengqin and Macao.

 

Member representatives actively put forward suggestions. The meeting collected expectations from participants regarding the Association's development and proposals to the government. All attendees provided valuable written opinions, hoping the Association will further deepen exchanges and project implementation in economy, trade, education, technology, and tourism among China, Canada, and Macao. They also aim to broaden the international perspectives of youth and contribute to the development of Hengqin and Macao, while hoping the government provides policy support for exchanges between Macao and overseas countries.
